A 25-year-old gymnastics coach in Orange County, California, has been arrested on multiple charges related to alleged sexual misconduct with a minor, and authorities believe additional victims may come forward. The investigation began after the victim contacted detectives upon learning the coach, Jacob Alexander Demmin of Yorba Linda, was continuing to work with children.
Investigation Uncovers Allegations of Grooming
According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, the victim alleged that Demmin engaged in a pattern of grooming behavior while she was a minor in 2021. This occurred while he was employed as a gymnastics coach at Firestorm Free Running and Acrobatics Gym in both Santa Ana and Westminster. The victim also stated she and Demmin allegedly engaged in sexual and inappropriate communication.
The investigation gained momentum leading to an arrest on Christmas Eve. Demmin now faces serious charges, including sodomy with a person under the age of 18, contacting a minor with intent to commit lewd acts, sexual penetration with a foreign object, annoying or molesting a victim under 18, and unlawful sex with a minor.
Concerns Over Potential for More Victims
“Due to Demmin’s access to minors through his employment, investigators believe there may be additional victims,” the sheriff’s department stated, as reported by KTLA. This concern is driving ongoing efforts to identify anyone else who may have been harmed. Investigators continue to actively pursue leads, believing there are indeed other potential victims.
Anyone with information about this case, or who believes they may have been a victim of Demmin, is urged to contact the OCSD’s Special Victims Detail at 714-647-7419 or 714-647-7000. Anonymous tips can be submitted to OC Crime Stoppers at 1-855-847-6227 or online at occrimestoppers.org.
