The beta of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 took place these days giving us an opportunity to give a first taste of what is cooking inside Sledgehammer Gameswho are once again in charge of an installment of the saga, despite the fact that they had their controversies with the weak launch of ‘Vanguard‘. However, they are not alone, as they have the assistance of Infinity Ward and Treyarch.

While IW will be in charge of the campaign, Sledgehammer will do its thing in the multiplayer, seeking to regain the audience that has been lost in recent months because, to be honest, Warzone 2.0 and Modern Warfare 2 have not finished very well with the public. That is why MW3 is not afraid to take the card from the ‘fan service‘bringing back classic maps from the original MW2.

Is this bad? It depends who you ask. I, who come from the ‘old school’ of Call of Duty, have felt happy remembering the times when I dedicated hours to the multiplayer of the classic MW2, but I had also forgotten a factor that made them ‘unique’ and not exactly for something positive :los campers.

If there is one thing that all of us veterans can agree on, it is that the remembered 2009 installment suffered from having maps that were an invitation for some players to take advantage of staying in a single position to accumulate deaths. Something that I had completely forgotten, considering the advances that there were in the modern maps of the saga where a balance was created in giving us medium-sized, or even extended scenarios that allow us to move through corridors.

So I’m not surprised to find that they could delete it in a matter of seconds. I emphasize ‘Favela‘, a well-loved map, but it has been a headache because if you don’t know how to guide yourself at the beginning, you are an easy target for enemies that climb onto the roofs, or are well positioned in windows.

Regarding the gameplay, there is a slight modification compared to the current MW2. Sledgehammer has already made it clear that they are not looking to complicate things and want to offer players a balance between ‘realist‘ y arcade, being a much faster game that doesn’t even give you time to blink. Add to that the fact that health has increased slightly, so it won’t be so easy to take someone down.

The level of customization will be another factor to take into account, since we will find a completely different system based on ‘parts‘ that you can put to your operator. In this way, there will be gloves that will give you the ‘advantage’ of being able to control your weapon better, or boots that make less noise when you move. Different bulletproof vests are also included as grenade resistance. This is how they become the replacement of the classics’perks‘.

As far as performance goes, it has done very well in PlayStation 5– where we had the opportunity to play the beta – and this time it shows that Sledgehammer had more time to perfect itself using the Infinity Ward engine that has been used in modern installments of MW. It is a great detail to continue preserving the possibility of being able to play with a keyboard + mouse on a console, being a plus for those of us who do not have many hands to use a controller in shooters.

I have no doubt that Modern Warfare 3 will be liked by veterans of the franchise because it appeals a lot to nostalgia, and that is a point that they could use in their favor to continue nurturing the game, as long as they have the desire to listen. to the community.
