According to Shams Charania of ESPN, Thomas and the Bucks have reached an agreement. Details regarding the contract’s length and financial terms have not yet been disclosed, but it is anticipated to be a deal extending through the end of the current season.

The 24-year-old became available after the Brooklyn Nets released him following the trade deadline, unable to find a suitable trade partner for the young guard. Reports indicate that Thomas also sought his release, as he and the Nets were unable to reach an agreement on a contract extension last summer.

“I’m happy that I can now really help another team,” Thomas shared with Marc Spears of Andscape. “My next team will get elite scoring, good playmaking and a good combo guard.”

Thomas has been a key offensive contributor for the Nets in recent seasons, leading the team in scoring for the past two years. However, he faced challenges with a persistent thigh injury, limiting him to 25 games last season. This season, he appeared in 24 games, averaging 15.6 points and 3.1 assists while shooting 39.9 percent from the field.

The Bucks currently have one open roster spot and will not need to release any players to accommodate Thomas, adding a valuable guard to their rotation as they pursue a championship.
