Campaigning for the 2nd phase of elections in Gujarat ended yesterday evening. Voting will be held there tomorrow (Monday).

Elections to the 182-member Gujarat Assembly are being held in two phases. In the first phase, polling was held in 89 constituencies on the 1st.

63.31 per cent polling was recorded in these constituencies comprising Saurashtra, Kutch and South Gujarat regions. Polling was conducted peacefully with tight security.

Following this, voting will take place tomorrow (Monday) in the remaining 93 constituencies. These constituencies are comprised of 14 districts under North and Central Gujarat regions which include Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Gandhinagar regions.

About 833 candidates belonging to 60 parties are in the fray in these constituencies. Their political future is decided tomorrow.

Fierce campaigning has been going on in these constituencies for the past few weeks. Prime Minister Modi carried out a whirlwind campaign especially supporting the candidates of the ruling BJP.

Similarly, Congress and Aam Aadmi Party leaders have been engaged in whirlwind campaigning and vote gathering in these constituencies for the past few weeks. The heated campaign came to an end yesterday evening.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission is making preparations for polling in these constituencies. The work of sending electronic voting machines to the polling stations is intensifying.
