Local Tennis Club Sees Membership Surge, Announces Ambitious Expansion Plans
A 10% increase in membership and significant facility upgrades signal a period of growth and investment for a local tennis club, according to a recent activity report. The club’s success extends beyond participation numbers, with officials highlighting a thriving tennis school and a commitment to sustainable practices.
The club experienced a highly successful season of summer and fall tournaments, attracting players across all age groups and demonstrating strong organizational capabilities. Beyond the competitive results, club president Michel Dupin expressed delight at the membership growth, stating it reflects the club’s increasing appeal to both young people and adults. The rising popularity of padel – a racquet sport combining elements of tennis and squash – was specifically noted as a contributing factor.
Professional Coaching and Youth Development
The club’s tennis school is experiencing a period of dynamic growth, benefiting from a focus on professional instruction. Currently, the school boasts three coaches holding state diplomas, alongside one trainee, ensuring a high standard of training for players of all levels. This investment in qualified personnel underscores the club’s commitment to developing the next generation of tennis talent.
Financial Health Fuels Facility Improvements
A comprehensive financial report, presented by Étienne Bénétrix, revealed a healthy financial position, enabling substantial improvements to the club’s infrastructure. Recent renovations included the resurfacing of two indoor courts, transitioning them from porous concrete to a more durable resin surface.
Looking ahead, the club has outlined an ambitious plan for March 2026: the conversion of an outdoor court into a new clay court. Furthermore, the club intends to install photovoltaic panels over the padel courts and existing outdoor greens in 2026, a project sponsored by the Macs Community of Communes. This initiative demonstrates a commitment to sustainability and reducing the club’s environmental footprint.
The club also held its first Telethon event this year, further demonstrating its engagement with the local community.
These developments position the club for continued success and solidify its role as a vital community asset.
