Car covers 20 km in nine minutes – Cyrus Mistry | Police

Mumbai: The police said that the car in which Cyrus Mistry was traveling, who died in a car accident on Sunday, traveled 20 km in nine minutes. Cyrus Mistry and Jahangir Pandole, who were in the back seat, were not wearing seat belts. Doctors also informed that Cyrus Mistry died due to head injury. The police found the speed of the car when it passed the Charoti check post at Palghar on the Gujarat border.

The police confirmed that they have examined the CCTV footage recorded at 2.21 pm. The accident happened around 2.30 pm at a place 20 km away from the check post. Cyrus Mistry was dead by the time he was taken to the hospital. The doctors also stated that Jahangir Pandole died while being taken to the hospital.

The car carrying Mistry and close family friends crashed into the handrail of the bridge across Surya River. Jahangir’s brother Darius Pandole (60) and his wife Dr. Anahita Pandole (55) were also injured. Police said the car was driven by Anahita, a gynecologist at Breach Candy Hospital in South Mumbai. Eyewitnesses told the police that Cyrus Mistry and Jehangir were in the back seat.

Meanwhile, Cyrus and Jahangir were in the front seats and Darius and his wife Anahita were in the back seat, family friends said. Dinshah, the father of Jahangir and Darius, died a week ago.
