RIMAVSKÁ SOBOTA, Saturday, December 21, 2024 – A reckless driver, found to be nearly twice the legal alcohol limit and without a valid license, caused a serious crash after leading police on a high-speed chase early Saturday morning. The incident left both the driver and his passenger with serious injuries, prompting a criminal inquiry.
The drama unfolded around dawn when a police patrol in Rimavská Sobota noticed a vehicle exhibiting erratic driving behavior. Attempts to pull the car over where ignored, and the driver rather accelerated towards the village of Rimavské janovce, initiating a pursuit. “However, the driver did not respond to the calls of the police and continued to drive fast, during which he took a turn in the opposite direction behind the Sabová district and then drove the car into a ditch. Here the vehicle overturned and after a few meters was left standing on its wheels, wrecked,” police reported.
