Car sales collapse in Western Europe. Registrations in the EU, EFTA and UK countries in August were 755,717, 16.5% less than in the same month of 2023. A total of 8,661,401 cars have been sold since the beginning of the year, with a growth of 1.7% over the same period of 2023. The data are from ACEA, the association of European manufacturers.


The sharp drop in electric cars, equal to 36% in August, weighs heavily, while considering only the European Union the drop is 43.9%.


Sales of most car manufacturers are declining. Stellantis registered 103,612 cars in August, 28.7% less than in the same month of 2023. Its market share fell from 16.1 to 13.7%. In the eight months, the group’s registrations were 1,491,967, a decrease of 3.3% compared to the same period of 2023. Its market share is 16.2% compared to 17% last year.
