The French easily took over the Spaniard Nuria Parrizas in the second round.
French Caroline Garcia, world No.5, qualified for the quarter-finals of the WTA 250 tournament in Monterrey (hard), Mexico on Thursday. The number 1 seed easily dismissed Spain’s Nuria Parrizas (N.78) 6-3, 6-2 in the second round. She will face in the quarterfinals the Egyptian Mayar Sherif, 53rd in the world, who beat the Chinese Wang Xinyu 3-6, 7-6 (8/6), 6-4.
Garcia remained on an entry elimination from the WTA 1000 tournament in Dubai, beaten by American Madison Keys, 7-5, 6-4, after reaching the quarters in Doha and losing in the final in Lyon in early February. Semi-finalist at the US Open and winner of the Masters last year, Garcia was eliminated in the round of 16 at the Australian Open in January.
