Organized by the Al Mada Foundation in partnership with the Chraïbi Abderrazik Foundation, this exhibition-workshop presents prints produced over 50 years by the Atelier d’art Marsam, as well as a set of engravings in homage to the great artist and master Moroccan engraver Aziz Abou Ali.
Alongside this exhibition, which continues until April 30, interactive lithography, screen printing and engraving workshops are installed.
“The Print Museum Workshop allows us to present our work and our experience in art publishing for around fifty years,” explains Rachid Chraïbi, co-founder of the Marsam Contemporary Art Gallery.
And to add, in a statement to MAP, that Marsam has produced no less than 400 works by the most important painted artists of Morocco, in the different techniques of this art.
After giving explanations on the difference between the arts of lithography, screen printing and engraving, Mr. Chraïbi announced that the Marsam workshop, through the Chraïbi Abderrazik Foundation, aims to create the print museum in Casablanca, first of its kind in Morocco.
“This museum project will bring together the entire graphic production of Marsam, as well as an important collection of the great master engraver Aziz Abu Ali,” he said, adding that the Marsam Gallery also aims to create a school of ‘print.
“The Print Museum workshop is both an exhibition of the works of several artists and workshops introducing the traditional process of making prints,” underlined, for his part, Nabil Bahia, head of the cultural department at the Al Mada Foundation.
“This artistic event will also be marked by the organization of masterclasses and internships for students from the Casablanca School of Fine Arts, allowing them to discover the profession of master printer, in addition to open discovery and initiation workshops to the general public,” said Mr. Bahia, in a statement to MAP.
By stump we mean the variation on paper of a work painted by the process of art screen printing, lithography and engraving. They are made by a master specialist using traditional techniques, under the supervision of the artist, and printed manually on art paper, we read in a catalog made available to visitors to the Workshop.
Unique and plural, the print democratizes access to the work of art and extends its field of influence.
50 years ago, Rachid Chraïbi and Zineb Abderrazik created Marsam, Contemporary Art Gallery and the first print workshop in Morocco. This workshop has produced art screenprints, engravings and lithographs with renowned visual artists.
Published in a limited series, signed and numbered, these prints allow you to move from the creation of unique works to the production of original shared works.
