Cástor Díaz is Professor of International Law at the Rey Juan Carlos University of Madrid and is a Full Academician of the Royal Academy of Spain, President of the International Law Section, as well as Director of the Research Center for Ibero-American Studies. He is a columnist for La Razón on international issues. He studied at the Faculty of Law of the University of Extremadura, obtaining the distinction of distinguished student and extraordinary award. He has carried out his teaching and research activities at the universities of Córdoba, Zaragoza, Carlos III of Madrid and Rey Juan Carlos, within Spain, being a member of the team of founding professors of the Carlos III University in 1989. He was awarded an extraordinary Doctorate award by the General Military Academy of Zaragoza for his thesis in the field of maintaining international peace and security and was Dean of the Faculty of Law in Extremadura (1994-1998) in two elections with an absolute majority; and Vice Chancellor of Teaching Staff and Academic Organization of the Rey Juan Carlos University.

He has a very outstanding scientific training at the international level, above all, having carried out teaching or research at the Universities of Oxford, Nantes, Lisbon and Paris X Nanterre. He is considered an international reference in the field of sustainable development and was director of the United Nations Chair on Sustainable Development from 2015 to 2019. He is also an expert in the international protection of human rights, as well as in relation to the relations between Europe and Latin America, forming part of the Guadalupe School, created by the prestigious European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation. Defense Award in Human Rights and Civil Merit Medal with white badge from the Ministry of Defense. He is the author of important publications on minorities, human rights, sustainable development and the Ibero-American reality, being co-director of the Ibero-American Laboratory on Culture, Commerce and Development at the University of Havana. He participated as an expert in the preparation of the Statute of the Community of Extremadura.
