Cat Mia, who was taken on a bicycle by a child, is back home: ‘She is unharmed’ | Interior

by time news

Like a true detective, Kelvin went looking for his missing cat Mia. On images from surveillance cameras, he saw how his beloved pet was taken away by a child on a bicycle last Sunday. There was no trace of the nine-month-old animal after that, but exactly one week later Mia was suddenly there again.

It is 1 pm on Sunday afternoon when the GPS tracker, which cat Mia has hanging around her neck, sends a different signal to Kelvin. “She was further away than usual and then a beep goes off,” explains the cat owner. Mia is nine months old and is a kitten from a litter of Kelvin’s other cat and lives with her sister at their home in Voorburg.

Because it is unusual for Mia to be so far away, Kelvin decides to drive to the point where the signal comes from. It brought him to the Rozeboomlaan, close to the homeless shelter. He searched the entire neighborhood and returned the next day to search the property. “I even climbed onto the roof with a ladder, but she was nowhere to be seen.”

Quest, flyers

Together with Heike, from Cat Help Bezuidenhout, a major action was then set up. “They help enormously in the search, roam the neighborhood and enlist all kinds of people to help.”

The entire neighborhood was also hung with flyers. And that helped a bit, because a tipster had CCTV from the street where Mia disappeared.

The images showed how a boy on a bicycle picked up Mia and drove away with another child. Hoping to find his pet, Kelvin posted the images on social media.

,,For me it is very easy, one plus one equals two. I see that boy cycling off with Mia and I want to know where my pet is.” Kelvin also reported the theft on Friday, because the cat had not returned after five days.

Gps-tracker

The search for the cat continued this weekend. Kelvin had discovered with a second GPS tracker that Mia’s collar was probably in a nearby ditch. And while he was about to search the water with a group on Sunday afternoon, the telephone rang. “A gentleman called that he had found a cat on Nicolaas Beetslaan that met the description.”

Mia is apparently unharmed and the owner is very happy that his beloved pet is safely home again. A new tracker is already ready, because a search for the old one is no longer necessary. “I just wanted to know if she was still attached to it, but luckily she is home safe.”

How Mia’s tracker disappeared and how she suddenly reappeared in the street is still unclear.
