Police were first called to the disorder on Karangahape Road at approximately 3:40 a.m. on December 28. Roughly 35 minutes later, a 33-year-old man was assaulted outside Crown Bar on Queen Street, sustaining serious head injuries and requiring hospitalization.
The violence continued. At 4:31 a.m., St John ambulance personnel responded to Cobden Street, near Karangahape road, where a 27-year-old man had suffered serious head injuries in another assault. He was transported to Auckland City Hospital in critical condition.Just fifteen minutes after that, at 5:00 a.m., a 46-year-old man was attacked at a mobil Service Station on the corner of Karangahape and Ponsonby roads, also suffering serious head injuries.
Police have arrested one person in relation to the incidents and are actively seeking information to identify two men who they believe can assist with their investigation.
