Ceará visited Treze, this Sunday (24), for the 7th round of the group stage of the Copa do Nordeste, at the Amigão stadium, in Campina Grande-PB. Vozão needed to win to continue dreaming of qualifying for the next stage of the competition and came out on top with a score of 1-0, with a goal from David Ricardo, in the 47th minute. Vozão maintains the 23-year taboo without losing to Galo and takes second place in Group A with 12 points.

THE GAME

The first half started with pressure from Treze, who squeezed Ceará’s ball out and dominated the game. Galo da Borborema took advantage of their superiority at the start of the match and exploited the attack, the dangerous moves in the Ceará area came from the feet of Edmundo and Will Viana, mostly in spaces on the right flank. The home team gave goalkeeper Richard a hard time, who made good saves and prevented Treze from opening the scoring against Vozão.

From the 18th minute onwards, Ceará began to advance in the game, creating opportunities and working better on ball possession. With the match more balanced, the Ceará team sought an advantage behind Treze’s defense, managing to reach Galo’s area and bringing danger to goalkeeper Rayan. Despite achieving a more intense pace of play, Ceará’s attempts did not shake the home team, who tried to find the goal with Juninho and Xandy, but stopped again at Richard.

In the second half, Ceará returned with more intensity, putting pressure on Galo and with superiority. The change in stance soon brought positive results for Vozão. At 47′, after a corner kick from Lourenço straight into the small area, David Ricardo appeared between two markers, headed and scored the only goal of the match for Ceará.

Even with the negative result for Treze, the home team did not let the pace of the game slow down. In the 6th minute, after a collision at the edge of the area, Thiaguinho tried to equalize for Galo, but was unable to score. The match remained intense, demanding agility from both teams. Ceará managed to create some more dangerous plays, at 27′, Janderson shot from outside the area, but Rayan saved.

With a lot of balance and situations created for both sides, the match ended after 6′ of stoppage time. Taking three points home, Vozão takes second place in Group A and maintains the 23-year mark without losing to Treze.
