The Nature Middle East website recently conducted a series of dialogues with several Arab scientists, delving into their careers, research, and achievements. The meetings explored a wide range of topics, from Nobel Prize winners to scientists making groundbreaking contributions in their respective fields.

One of the meetings conducted was with the Egyptian scientist Mohamed Tharwat Hassan, known for his work in femtosecond chemistry. Hassan, who worked in the research group of Nobel Prize winner Dr. Ahmed Zewail at Caltech University, has made significant contributions to the field and is one of the few Arab researchers to have studied under two Nobel Prize winners.

Another dialogue was with Mario Capecchi, the winner of the 2007 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. Capecchi’s pioneering work in gene targeting techniques and the development of animal models for human diseases earned him the prestigious award.

In addition to Nobel Prize winners, the website also highlighted the biographies and professional lives of other Arab scientists, including Ahmed Soliman, a researcher at NASA’s Rocket Propulsion Laboratory, and Islam Hussain, a principal researcher at Microbiotics, an American company specializing in antimicrobial discovery and development research.

The series of dialogues also featured scientists from various fields, such as geology, space science, and geography. One of the interviews was with Bilal Salem, an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Geology at Benha University, known for his research in vertebrate paleontology.

The Nature Middle East website also featured interviews with scientists from Saudi Arabia, such as Hossam Al-Zawawi, an Associate Professor of Medical Microbiology at King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, and Rami Al-Maari, who works as an associate professor of space, planetary, and earth sciences at Khalifa University.

The comprehensive collection of dialogues provides a valuable insight into the contributions and achievements of Arab scientists across various scientific disciplines. These interviews shed light on the remarkable work being carried out by these scientists and their ongoing commitment to advancing scientific knowledge and innovation.
