BUND BW excursion to the Handschuhsheim cemetery

Cemeteries are primarily places of rest. Here visitors find the necessary silence for reflection and mourning for the deceased. At the same time, cemeteries have a great variety of structures and if they are designed in a way that is close to nature, they can be valuable habitats for animals and plants.

During a guided tour of the Handschuhsheim Cemetery in Heidelberg, the BUND Baden-Württemberg provides insights into its “Insect-Friendly Cemetery” project and explains how an insect-friendly grave design can succeed. The focus is on our butterflies. Which moths can be observed when visiting flowers in the cemetery?

Ort: Friedhof Handschuhsheim, Zum Steinberg 16, 69121 Heidelberg
Meeting point: At the west entrance (directly at the parking lot)
Duration: approx. 1.5 h, free of charge, but we welcome donations for our nature conservation work
