The health situation is equally alarming. Outbreaks of measles, pertussis, meningitis, rabies, Mpox, and vaccine-derived poliomyelitis have been reported since the beginning of 2025. The risk of a cholera outbreak remains high, as all six neighboring countries are currently experiencing epidemics. Trade and population movements increase the potential for cross-border transmission.
In 2025, the Central African Republic has 1014 health facilities, but only 39.8% are fully operational, according to HeRAMS data. this leaves affected populations competing for access to already scarce and overburdened healthcare services.
