Chairing for a year… India hosting 200 G20 meetings across the country

G20 is a group of countries with important developed and emerging economies of the world. These include Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, UK, USA and EU countries. The post of president of this organization is held by each country on a rotating basis.

In that way, India will assume the leadership from December 1st to November 30th next year. After this, India is expected to host 200 G20 meetings across the country.

In a statement released by the Ministry of External Affairs, the G20 Leaders’ Summit, at the level of heads of government, is scheduled to be held in New Delhi on September 9 and 10 next year.

The country holding the G20 presidency has a tradition of inviting some non-G20 countries and some international organizations as guests to its G20 meetings, along with G20 member states.

Accordingly, India, under the G20 presidency, invites Bangladesh, Egypt, Mauritius, Netherlands, Nigeria, Oman, Singapore, Spain and United Arab Emirates as guest countries for G20 meetings. Also, India invites ISA (International Solar Alliance), CDRI (Alliance for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure) and ADB (Asian Development Bank) as guests to the G20 meetings.

G20 meetings and conferences led by India under the G20 presidency include education, trade, skills, culture and tourism, climate finance, economics, global food security, energy security, green hydrogen, disaster risk reduction, development cooperation, fight against economic crime and multilateral reforms. According to a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs, the main areas will be discussed.
