The Department of Telecommunications has launched Chakshu portal, through which one can complain about fake calls and messages online. These days, an increase in fraudulent WhatsApp messages and calls is being recorded, against which by filing an online complaint on the government portal, the fraudsters can be sent to jail.

What is Chakshu Portal?
Chakshu portal is a new initiative of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to curb cyber fraud. This facility is now available on Sanchar Sathi website. This portal prevents cyber crimes like fraud in the name of fake customer service helpline, fake verification of bank account, payment wallet, gas connection etc. Chakshu portal allows users to report fraud through call, SMS.

How to file a complaint
step 1: Go to sancharsathi.gov.in website and scroll down to Citizen Centric Services.
Step 2: Select the Eye option given below this tab and then click on Reporting.
Step 3: Select the fraud category from the drop-down menu and attach a screenshot of the call.
Step 4: Enter the mobile number from which you have received the fraud call message.
Step 5: Enter date and time of fraud call and report.
Step 6: Enter your personal details. Verify it with OTP and submit the complaint.

How to report fraudulent WhatsApp messages on Chakshu portal
step 1: Select Medium WhatsApp mode in the eye menu.
Step 2: Select the fraud category from the drop-down menu and attach a screenshot of the message you received.
Step 3: Select suspicious WhatsApp communication option.
Step 4: After this enter the mobile number containing the fraud message and call.
Step 5: Provide the date and time of the fraud call and file a report.
Step 6: Enter your personal information. After this verify the OTP.
