Chancellor Scholz asks Germany to increase support for Ukraine if “others falter”

Scholz has admitted that for Germany it represents “a great financial challenge“, but has committed “with complete clarity” to continue supporting Ukraine in its self-defense against Russia with financial means and with arms shipments. He recalled that Germany is the second largest taxpayer in this regard behind the United States and has noted that “if others falter, our contribution may have to be even greater. This week Republicans have blocked an aid package to Ukraine in the United States Senate for value of 60,000 million dollars (about 55,000 million euros) which according to kyiv is crucial for the country’s defense.
