Sometimes, you need to switch up your keyboard-especially if you’re typing in a language like Spanish and require special characters, such as the tilde above a capital letter (“Ñ”). While ASCII codes can generate these characters, it’s a clunky, time-consuming process. If you frequently write in another language, installing a dedicated keyboard layout in Windows is a much smoother solution.
You can add as many additional keyboard layouts as you like in the Windows settings and switch between them.

Here’s how to add a new keyboard layout to your Windows system: open settings from the Windows Start menu, then select Time & Language. Click Language & Region, then navigate to the three dots next to “English (United States)” and choose Language options. Scroll down and click Add keyboard within the “Keyboards” section, selecting your desired language from the list.
