The whole drama unfolded on Monday, September 25. “Police officers from the emergency motorized unit went out to Pernerova Street in Prague 8where, according to the report, a couple was located who was supposed to be under the influence of drugs, and it was obvious that they were going to leave in a vehicle,” police spokeswoman Violeta Siřišťová described how it all started.
When the patrol arrived in the street, they noticed a parked car with a man standing next to it who had just changed the wheel. His reaction was unexpected – when he noticed the policemen, he left the replaced bike in place, sat behind the wheel and stepped on the gas sharply. “In the meantime, the police managed to look up the registration plate of the vehicle and discovered that it was stolen. The police officers informed their colleagues in the field about all the discovered facts via the operations officer, and they immediately went to help,” said the spokeswoman.
The driver sped down Moláková street, even drove into a roundabout in the opposite direction, refusing to stop. He didn’t care about the signs and he endangered a number of other people with his wild driving! He reached Sokolovská street, where he turned into a one-way street. There, he and the female passenger began to run away. “The police immediately caught up with the woman and the driver hid from them in a nearby car repair shop. There, the police found him and, using coercive means, pacified him and restricted his personal freedom,” described Siřišťová.
The man told them that the only reason he was driving was because he didn’t have a driver’s license. But that was not entirely true. “The police found out by lustrating the serial number of the vehicle that it was stolen a week ago in Prague’s Kbely, and it was also fitted with stolen registration plates from another car. It also became clear that the 28-year-old driver never had a driver’s license and refused to submit to a drug test to the police,” the spokeswoman added. The man ended up at work, he is suspected of unauthorized use of someone else’s property.
