A 13-year-old girl has been living with her father and brother in the suburbs of Chennai. The girl’s father used to come home drunk every day and beat his wife. The girl’s mother left home a year ago. The girl’s brother is a mechanic working and studying. In this situation, a gang of five people from the area and a friend of the girl’s brother got into trouble.
As the problem intensified, the friend moved with his family. Asked where the friend’s family had gone, the five men routinely threatened and beat the girl and her brother. Frightened, the girl’s brother went to another relative’s house. The five men took advantage of the fact that the father was drunk and unconscious and the girl was alone, forcing the girl and sexually abusing her.
All five are frequently involved in sexual abuse of a minor. Unable to bear the torture, the girl sought protection and lodged a complaint at a nearby police station. He has stated the above in that complaint. Police are investigating the complaint.
