Chennai: Muneeswar Nath Bandari was sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Chennai High Court yesterday. He was administered the oath of office by Governor RN Ravi. Former Chief Justice of Chennai High Court Sanjeev Banerjee has been transferred as Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court. Following this, President Ramnath Govind appointed Allahabad High Court Senior Judge Muneeswar Nath Bandari as the Chief Justice in charge of the Chennai High Court. Following this, the swearing in ceremony of Judge Muneeswar Nath Bandari was held at the Governor’s House in Chennai Kindi at 9.30 am yesterday.

He was sworn in as the new Chief Justice by Governor RN Ravi. At the event, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu wrapped a gold ribbon and congratulated MK Stalin’s new Chief Justice. Following this, Judge Muneeswar Nath Bandari exchanged greetings with Governor RN Ravi, Chief Minister MK Stalin and Chennai High Court Senior Judge M Thuraisamy. Ministers including ICC Judges, Speaker Appavu and Thuraimurugan, KN Nehru, Leader of the Opposition Edappadi Palanisamy, Chief Secretary Irayanpu, DGP Silendra Babu, Chennai Police Commissioner Sankar Jival, Government Department officials, High Court officials, registrars and others presented bouquets to the new Chief Justice. Judge Muneeswarnath Bandari delivered the keynote address and said: I have been learning Tamil since yesterday. I have heard the word “hello” and “thank you” for asking a fellow judge. It is gratifying to have come to the traditional Chennai High Court following the Allahabad High Court. Tamil Nadu is famous for its spirituality and temples. Tamil Nadu is superior culturally and historically. I have been to Tamil Nadu many times. I have great respect for Tamil Nadu. My dream of being born in Tamil Nadu has now come true with my appointment as a Chennai High Court judge.
