Cher Threatens to Leave the US if Donald Trump Wins 2024 Election

Music superstar and vocal advocate for liberal causes, Cher, has made a bold statement about her future plans if former President Donald Trump secures a second term in the White House. The 77-year-old pop icon revealed in an interview with The Guardian that she would resort to drastic measures and leave the United States if the Republican frontrunner wins the 2024 election.

“I almost got an ulcer the last time,” Cher expressed her distress over Trump’s previous presidency. “If he gets in, who knows? This time I will leave [the country].”

Cher, who campaigned extensively for President Joe Biden during the 2020 election, has been a vocal critic of Trump in the past. She previously described him as “Nixon on steroids” and a threat to democracy. Her unwavering support for Biden included speaking at various rallies and using her social media platforms to rally voters.

Despite facing a barrage of court cases, Trump, at 77, continues to maintain a significant lead over his GOP primary opponents both in the polls and financially. Politico reports that his campaign raised $24.5 million during the third quarter of 2023, more than double the funds of his Republican rivals in the same period.

Moreover, a close-run hypothetical poll conducted by DailyMail.com indicates that Trump has recently overtaken President Biden, with a one-point lead. This rise in popularity is fueled by independent voters switching sides and gains among graduates, who heavily support Biden.

In addition to her concerns about Trump’s potential second term, Cher also voiced her distress over the proposed anti-trans legislation in the US this year. She cited around 500 bills being put forward and shared her personal connection to the issue, as her own child, Chaz Bono, underwent a gender transition in 2009.

“It’s something like 500 bills they’re trying to pass,” Cher stated, expressing her solidarity with the transgender community. “I was saying, ‘We’ve got to stand together.’ I don’t know what their eventual plan is for trans people. I don’t put anything past them.”

Cher’s son, Chaz Bono, aged 54, transitioned from female to male in 2009. The singer has previously opened up about the challenges they faced during this time and emphasized the importance of supporting and protecting trans rights.

As the 2024 election approaches, Cher’s bold declaration adds to the ongoing political discourse, highlighting the significance of celebrity endorsements and the impact they can have on public opinion. Whether her threat to leave the US will come to fruition remains uncertain, but it certainly amplifies the divisiveness surrounding Trump’s potential return to power and the issues that have polarized the nation.
