The study found that patients with Covid-19 are more likely to have persistent chest pain for six months to a year after recovery. The study was conducted by researchers at Intermountain Health in Salt Lake City, USA. Researchers looked at data from 150,000 people for heart-related symptoms.

The study was conducted by classifying them into three groups. Those above 18 years of age who were Covid positive are in the first group and those who are Covid negative are in the second group. Data of patients examined during pre-Covid period – January 1, 2018 to August 31, 2019 was also used as control group. From this, it was found that those who are Covid-positive are more likely to experience chest pain after six months and one year. Cardiovascular epidemiologist Heidi T. May says.

At the same time, the research report adds that the rate of serious conditions like heart attack and stroke has not been found to be higher in Covid patients. The study results were presented at the 2023 Scientific Conference of the American College of Cardiology in New Orleans.
