LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Chicago Bears training camp is officially underway for the 2025 season, and a highly physical practice on Tuesday showcased several standout performers under new head coach Ben Johnson.

Roschon Johnson a force in the backfield

Running back Roschon Johnson emerged as a key offensive weapon during Tuesday’s session. The third-year player was a powerful presence in team drills, consistently finding the end zone near the goal line. Johnson also engaged in some notable on-field skirmishes, including a notable moment with safety Jonathan Owens.

Johnson, who showed success as the team’s short-yardage back in 2024, demonstrated his reliability in that role again with live tackling. His performance helped the offense rebound after a quieter Family Fest practice on Sunday.

Rome Odunze showcases deep threat ability

A highlight of the day was a deep pass connection between quarterback Caleb Williams and wide receiver Rome Odunze. Williams launched a ball down the left sideline, and Odunze hauled it in stride, outmaneuvering cornerback Nahshon Wright for a significant gain. Odunze has been increasingly featured on deep targets in recent practices, proving capable of handling tight coverage.

Tysheem Johnson intercepts veteran quarterback

While the offense generally had a strong showing, the defense also made its plays. Undrafted rookie safety Tysheem Johnson recorded an interception off veteran backup quarterback Case Keenum. The pass, described as sailing for its intended receiver, landed in Johnson’s hands. Johnson, a standout from Oregon, has shown flashes of potential during camp and could be a player to watch in the upcoming preseason games.
