Chicago Blackhawks’ Connor Bedard to Become Youngest Player in NHL History to be Selected for All-Star Game

Chicago Blackhawks rookie Connor Bedard has made history by becoming the youngest player in NHL history to be selected to the All-Star Game. At just 18 years and 171 days old, Bedard will edge out Buffalo Sabres forward Jeff Skinner, who previously held that record.

The 2024 All-Star Game is set to take place on Feb. 3, when Bedard will be 18 years and 203 days old. Skinner was 18 years and 259 days old during the 2011 All-Star Game.

The Blackhawks selected Bedard with the No. 1 pick in the 2023 NHL Draft, and he has certainly lived up to expectations. Bedard has scored 15 goals and assisted on 18 through 37 games played, leading Chicago in both categories as well as leading all rookies in the NHL. He was also named Rookie of the Month in both November and December.

Despite Bedard’s impressive performance, the Blackhawks have struggled this season, with a record of 11-24-2, placing them at eighth in the Central Division.

While some may question why Bedard was chosen for the All-Star Game, it is clear that he has earned his spot. Despite playing on a struggling team, Bedard has consistently produced remarkable plays and has been a standout player throughout the season.

No player in NHL history has entered the league with as much buzz as Bedard, and his presence at the All-Star Game will undoubtedly attract a huge following and continue to benefit the NHL as a whole.

As Bedard continues to shine, it’s clear that he is a player to watch, and his selection to the All-Star Game is just the beginning of what is expected to be a promising career.
