Chicago,February 1,2026 – Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has directed city police to investigate alleged illegal activity by federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents,a move expected to heighten tensions over jurisdictional authority between local and federal governments.
The executive order,dubbed “ICE on Notice,” establishes a procedure for Chicago police to document and report potential violations of law by ICE agents to city prosecutors.
