Chicolandia Hall Opens its Doors with New Bouncy Castle and Inclusive Features

A free, family-friendly event offering games, workshops, and entertainment will run from December 27-30 and January 2-4.

The mayor of Valdepeñas, Jesús Martín, inaugurated the Chicolandia children’s and youth hall this Saturday, offering a vibrant space for families during the holiday season. The hall, spanning 4,000 square meters, is free to enter and will be open from December 27 to 30 and again from January 2 to 4, providing a wonderland of games, attractions, and workshops for children of all ages.

A Regional Draw and Commitment to Youth

During the opening ceremony, Mayor Martín emphasized the hall’s regional importance, stating, “This is an event that has already been consolidated, and that not only covers Valdepeñas but the entire region, to which we have to be grateful.” He further highlighted the city’s dedication to its younger residents, adding, “enthusiasm, like poetry, is a weapon loaded with the future, and a city that takes care of its adolescents and brings them happiness will create more empathetic, committed and supportive societies.”

Inclusive Fun for Everyone

This year’s Chicolandia boasts a brand-new 400-square-meter bouncy castle, adding to the existing array of attractions like a mechanical bull and a sweeper. Beyond the thrills, the hall offers a variety of workshops, including face painting, crafts, music lessons, English classes, and an escape room. Recognizing the diverse needs of the community, Chicolandia will once again host dedicated quiet hours, free from sound, for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or those sensitive to auditory stimuli. These inclusive sessions will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on December 27 and 28, and January 2.

Getting There and Around

The hall’s general opening hours are from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A bus service will operate on Saturday, December 27, Sunday, December 28, Saturday, January 3, and Sunday, January 4 (Line 1, 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.). Lines 1 and 2 will run on Monday, December 29, Tuesday, December 30, and Friday, January 2, following a regular route and schedule.

On December 27 and 28, and January 3 and 4, Line 1 will extend its route to include stops at Capilla Virgen de Fátima, Camino del Ratón, Seis de Junio ​​corner Virgen, and Seis de Junio ​​corner Cantarranas.

Pneumatic Train to Roll Through Neighborhoods

Adding to the festive spirit, a free Children’s Pneumatic Train will be making its way through the streets of Valdepeñas between January 3 and 5. On Saturday, January 3, the train will travel through Cachiporro and La Manzana (departing from the “Cachiporro” Social Center, 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.) and Los Llanos and Santo Cristo (departing from Plazoleta de la Yenka, 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.).

Sunday, January 4, will see the train serving Lucero, Virgen de la Cabeza, Fátima, and San Pedro (departing from the Plaza de Toros, 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.), followed by a tour of the Central Zone (departing and stopping at Plaza de España, 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.). Finally, on Monday, January 5, the train will return to the Central Zone (departing and arriving at Plazoleta del Convento, 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.).

Royal Emissaries and Three Kings Parade

The arrival of the Royal Emissaries is scheduled for January 4 at Plaza de España, where they will collect letters from children. The Three Kings Parade will take place on January 5, departing at 6:00 p.m. from Molino Gregorio Prieto. Organizers have ensured the parade will be inclusive, with reserved spaces for individuals with reduced mobility near the Ahorramás supermarket on Avenida Gregorio Prieto, and a designated quiet area on Avenida 1º de Julio, next to the Gustav pub.
