In the province of Santiago de Cuba, a moving episode became the mirror of a terrible reality that the entire island suffers, when an elderly man was seen by a group of children while rummaging through a garbage dump.
“Don’t eat garbage!”the little ones shouted at him in the midst of their innocence, while they saw how the subject, with no other options, was looking for some “food” in the depths of the dirt.
Journalist Yosmany Mayeta Labrada, who shared the incident on social networks, not only sought to publicize the incident, but also launched a cry for help.
“This unfortunate event, where a man was rummaging through the trash to find some food, happened in a neighborhood in the city of Santiago de Cuba,” Mayeta Labrada reported, emphasizing the vulnerability of people like the elderly man in question.
Additionally, he urged his followers to provide information that could help identify the man, in the hopes of providing him with the necessary assistance.
As usually happens in these cases, the publication quickly filled with comments from citizens lamenting the sad reality of the old man.
“Poor thing, he’s hungry. So there are many on the streets, but I don’t see anyone helping; We have little, but someone could have given it even a little. I don’t know what will happen to us, we will all end up in the same place. “Life is very sad and difficult.”expressed Mayra Cabrera.
