Beijing: Chinese President Xi Jinping congratulated Draupadi Murmu on her swearing-in as the 15th President of India. In his congratulatory message, Xi Jinping expressed his willingness to work with Murmu to enhance political mutual trust, properly manage differences of opinion, and advance bilateral relations on the right track.
Xi Jinping said that he attaches great importance to India-China relations. Xi Jinping pointed out that China and India are each other’s important neighbors and a stable relationship is in line with the fundamental interests of both countries and peoples.
The congratulatory message to President Murmu is the first interaction of the Chinese President with India in the past one year. On April 30, 2021, when the deadly second wave of Covid swept through India, Xi Jinping wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi offering support for strengthening anti-pandemic cooperation with India.
