AEK’s Chris Silva Named Basketball Champions League Group Phase MVP
The Basketball Champions League (BCL) has announced AEK BC center Chris Silva as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Group Phase, recognizing his dominant performance and pivotal role in propelling his team towards the Play-Ins and Round of 16. The 29-year-old forward/center officially received the honour on Tuesday, marking a notable achievement in Season X of the competition.
The BCL Group Phase recently concluded, prompting the league to acknowledge its top performers. According to a league release, Silva’s impact has been instrumental in AEK’s success, securing another berth in the Round of 16 after a strong showing as hosts of last season’s Final Four.
Silva averaged an impressive 14.8 points on 70% shooting from the field over his first five BCL games, complemented by 8.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.6 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game. His presence on the court has demonstrably elevated AEK’s performance,with the team boasting a +65 point differential during his playing time. Moreover, his efficiency rating of 21.0 ranks as the third-best in the BCL this season.
His performance intensified in the subsequent four games, following an initial outing where he scored seven points in 11 minutes. Silva then averaged 16.8 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 2.0 steals, and 1.3 blocks, achieving an efficiency rating of 24.8 – the highest mark in Season X.
“You just sit back and watch him doing everything on the court,” remarked a teammate, highlighting Silva’s all-around contribution. “Plus he is a funny guy.”
His frontcourt partner, RaiQuan Gray, emphasized the energizing effect Silva has on the entire team. “I would say just his energy on and off the court are the best aspects of having him on our team.
