Copenhagen: Denmark’s Christian Eriksen scored in the same venue after suffering a heart attack during the Euro Cup in June last year. Eriksson also wore the captain’s armband in a friendly against Serbia. Denmark won the match 3-0.
Eriksen also came on as a substitute in the international friendly against the Netherlands the previous day, but lost 2–4 to Denmark at home.
The captain and goalkeeper made a comeback at Parken Stadium after suffering a heart attack during the Euro Cup match against Finland in June last year. Eriksson returned to the field with a cardioverter defibrillator attached to his body that facilitates the functioning of the heart. His return to club football came last month through English club Brentford.
Victory for Italy in friendship
Italy, who were eliminated from qualifying for the World Cup last night, have since beaten Turkey 3-2 in an international friendly. In other matches, France beat South Africa (5–0), Spain beat Iceland (5–0), Belgium beat Burkina Faso (3–0), Norway beat Armenia (9–0), England beat Ivory Coast (3–0) and Hungary beat Northern Ireland. Australia-Scotland (2–2) match, Germany-Holland (1–1) match and Wales-Czech Republic match (1–1) ended in a draw.
