Being faithful to Jesus Christ, following the teachings of the Holy Bible and not the ideologies of the world, has cost Christian couples their dream of having children through adoption. This is what some have reported to the group Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), a law firm that handles persecution over matters of faith.

One of the cases reported by the ADF is that of Jessica Bates, who felt the desire to adopt a child, even though she was already a mother of five. Her desire came after hearing an adoption testimony, which left an impact on her.

“I couldn’t stop thinking about what I heard. Even though I am raising five children, I knew my family could help the children find forever homes,” she said.

However, during the legal adoption process in the state of Oregon, United States, she ended up being blocked due to her Christian values, when she said she would not agree to promoting LGBT+ activism ideologies to her children.

That’s because the Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) said parents should “respect, accept and support” their transgender children, including taking them to “LGBT community events.”

Violation of rights

Another case of Christians who were blocked from adoption is that of Mike and Catherine Burke. They argued that they were prevented from adopting a child because they were against one of the rules required in Massachusetts, also in the United States, which is to support “the sexual orientation or gender identity” of their children.

The couple understood that this requirement does not concern mere respect for differences, which is natural and acceptable, but rather the promotion and support of LGBT+ ideology, without any position to the contrary, which would violate their Christian principles.

In a lawsuit filed by the couple, Mike and Burke’s defense says they “believe that children should not undergo procedures that attempt to change their God-given sex,” reported the guide me.
