Chennai: Christmas was celebrated all over the world yesterday (December 25). Christmas weeds in India too. A large number of Christians attended special prayers held in the churches of the Christian place of worship.
Prime Minister Modi and President Ramnath Govind congratulated the people of the country on the occasion of Christmas.
Christmas Day was held at the famous Vadippatti Health Mother Correction, popularly known as South Velankanni. Colorful lanterns about the Nativity and a hut decorated with flowers were set up in the correctional premises for the occasion. A special return took place at 11.30pm. Arokyadas, the co-founder, presided over this special return. It was attended by a large number of devotees, including Principal Administrator Anthony Joseph, Auxiliary Role Father Child Yesudas, and people from both sexes.
At the end of this special return, at 12 o’clock in the night, a special worship service was held for the image of the infant Jesus in a hut set up to mark the birth of Jesus. Devotees wearing masks followed the social gap.
Christmas was celebrated in Christian churches in various villages of Satyamangalam and surrounding area of Erode district.
At Satyamangalam the priest Maria Joseph presided and performed the prayers. In this Arulanandar temple, a hut was set up inside the temple to announce the birth of Christ and electric lights were placed. A large number of Christians attended the puja at 8 am.

Special Christmas prayers were also held at Velankanni Mata Church in the city and St. Anthony’s Church in Pettai.
A special prayer was held on Friday night at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Melappudur, Trichy on the occasion of Christmas. Hide District Partner Father Arokiaraj led the prayers which were attended by a large number of Christian people.
