The arrest followed allegations that the man stole a motor vehicle and carried out a series of burglaries, stealing both cash and electrical items.

Investigators allege the man, from Altona Meadows, first broke into a design studio on Stawell Street in Richmond around 7 p.m. on Christmas Day. Approximately half an hour later, he allegedly stole a vehicle from a furniture buisness on Church Street, according to police.

Police recovered the stolen vehicle in a car park, where they also allegedly found stolen items, according to a police statement.
