The incidents occurred at Republique, Arts et Metiers, and Opera stations at approximately 4 p.m. local time, prompting a swift response from police and emergency services.
Injuries Reported as Minor
Firefighters provided medical attention to the victims, who sustained minor injuries. According to reports, two of the women were injured on their backs and thighs. “The young woman was injured in the thigh,” a witness told Le Parisien. “There was quite a lot of blood; it was a pretty deep cut.” The prosecutor’s office confirmed that none of the injuries were life-threatening.
Suspect in Custody
French police detained a man suspected of carrying out the attacks. The suspect fled the scene immediately after the incidents but was later arrested at his residence, according to C News. The official Parisian police account on X posted, “Thanks to the immediate action” of the emergency services, “the suspected individual has been apprehended.” The police account also stated, “I extend all my wishes for a prompt recovery to the 3 victims who were slightly injured and taken in charge by the emergency services, whom I also salute.”
The possibility of terrorism has been ruled out by local media, suggesting the attacks were not politically motivated. The investigation is ongoing.
