The French ambassador, who moderated a conference-debate on Franco-Moroccan relations at the Faculty of Legal, Economic and Social Sciences of Ain Chock, recalled the “older and more stable relations of Morocco with African countries”, which make the Kingdom “the country best perceived by public opinion in the Sahel”.

Based on this observation, “we can work together to strengthen our solidarity and our community of destiny in the face of our competitors,” said the diplomat.

In this regard, Mr. Lecourtier recalled that relations between Europe and Africa necessarily pass through the Maghreb, the Sahel and West Africa, stressing that this reality “joins the vision of His Majesty the King ” Mohammed VI who made Morocco’s anchoring in its African depth one of the major pillars of the Kingdom’s foreign policy.

Underlining France’s desire to strengthen its partnership with Morocco, the French ambassador affirmed that his country has “the capacity to be an ally and a useful partner, without exclusion or monopoly”, specifying that: “without arrogance, Morocco is right to want to see France around the table and to want, as we want with it, to rebuild this very ambitious agenda.”

“This means that we are capable of living up to this role that you might wish to give us back, one of the great partners for the next 20 years. This means that we are able to mobilize financial resources, and in terms of expertise, investments and research,” the French ambassador further assured.

Focusing on the question of the quality training necessary to support this partnership, and while relying on the positioning of Morocco “absolutely central in this co-prosperity zone”, Mr. Lecourtier stressed that the key would be to succeed in ensuring the training of thousands of young Moroccans, Europeans and Sub-Saharans, both at the higher and intermediate levels, with facilitated mobility, which will lead to a win-win partnership.

“In this area, Morocco and France can make Morocco a place where Moroccans, French, sub-Saharan Africans and Europeans come to train and be able to + irrigate + our Euro-Morocco-African region to achieve our destiny,” he added. said the diplomat.

The conference was organized by the Links Foundation, chaired by the former minister and ambassador of Morocco to France, Mohamed Berrada.
