Kadaba police have registered a case against Hindutva activists for smashing the door of a church in Peradka, Karnataka, destroying a cross and planting saffron flags on the spot. The police have registered a case based on a complaint lodged by a church priest.

According to national media reports, Father Jose Varghese, a priest at the Assembly of God Church in Peradka, lodged a complaint with the police. The event will take place on May 1. In the middle of the night, a group of people smashed the door of the church and went inside, smashing the cross and placing a saffron flag and a picture of Hanuman.

In addition, they also committed robberies at the church. According to the complaint, the electric meter, water pump and pipes installed in the church were stolen along with the records of the church and the chapel.

The case has been registered under sections 448 (trespassing) of the IPC, section 295a (insulting religious sentiments), sections 427 of the IPC and section 329 (theft) of the IPC.
