There is one food that he still misses very much.

Cillian Murphy has revealed he is now vegan. The actor has switched to a completely plant-based diet.

Cillian Murphy: From wild meat diet to veganism

In the “WTF” podcast with Marc Maron, the 47-year-old talked about his new eating habits. When asked what Murphy typically cooks, he replied, “I’ve tried vegan.”

When he talked about the transition and giving up meat, dairy and eggs, Murphy sighed and admitted, “I miss cheese.” But he wouldn’t miss meat. “I haven’t eaten meat for a long time.” The Brit continued: “I had a bit of a relapse and I didn’t feel any better, so I went back to it.” Shortly afterwards, the actor tried a short-term diet of game meat, “It was very nice, but I don’t eat it anymore.”

Fear of mad cow disease

The reason for the vegan lifestyle was ethical and health concerns. However, Murphy explained another concern about his transition: “In the beginning it was just that there was a lot of mad cow disease and stuff like that. It was a bad scene. So I decided against the risk.”

In an interview with “Mr. Porter” from 2017, Cillian Murphy was already very worried about the disease. “I was a vegetarian for about 15 years. But that was never a moral decision. I was more worried that I might get mad cow disease,” said the 47-year-old.

But it is now clear that he has fully embraced the plant-based diet. “I think it’s better for the planet, right?” he added, before going on to say that he also owns a cat and a dog.
