New User Committee to Shape Healthcare in Estrie Region

A new committee will give patients a stronger voice in the quality and safety of healthcare services in the Estrie region of Quebec, beginning in 2026.

  • A 10-member Establishment Users Committee (CUE) will represent patients across the CIUSSS de l’Estrie – CHUS.
  • Applications to join the CUE will be accepted between January 19 and February 6, 2026.
  • The CUE will focus on promoting and defending the rights of users and improving the quality of care.
  • Existing local user committees will continue to operate alongside the new CUE.

Residents of the Estrie region will soon have a dedicated committee advocating for their rights within the healthcare system. The Establishment Users Committee (CUE), comprised of 10 members representing all territories and missions of the CIUSSS de l’Estrie – CHUS, is being formed to ensure patient perspectives are central to service improvements. This initiative, launching in 2026, aims to bolster the quality and safety of healthcare and social services by actively incorporating the experiences of those who receive them.

The formation of these committees is mandated across all establishments in Quebec, in accordance with the Act respecting the governance of the health and social services system. Importantly, the existing network of local user committees will not be dissolved, but will instead work in conjunction with the new CUE structure.

Who is Eligible to Participate?

  • Individuals passionate about promoting and defending the collective rights of healthcare users.
  • Current members of user committees and resident committees, whose experience and dedication are valuable assets.

Important Dates to Remember

  • Application Submission Period: January 19 to February 6, 2026
  • Election Period: February 16 to 27, 2026
  • Ballot: Between March 2 and 6, 2026

The establishment’s users’ committee will replace the integrated center’s users’ committee (CUCI).

What is the primary goal of the CUE? The CUE’s core mission is to champion the rights of users and contribute to enhancing the overall quality of care and services provided within the CIUSSS de l’Estrie – CHUS.

“Every voice counts to improve the quality and safety of health care and social services. That of users is one of the most important, their experience is rich in learning and we wish to enrich ourselves from it,” stated Stéphane Tremblay, President and CEO.
