Claus Kleber: ZDF presenter stops and criticizes public law – domestic politics

The outgoing ZDF “heute journal” presenter Claus Kleber (66) criticizes an increasing ideologization in journalism.

The ZDF presenter will present “heute journal” on ZDF for the last time today, Thursday (9.45pm). The journalist says goodbye after more than 3000 issues in almost 20 years.

For the first time he was the main presenter of the show on February 3, 2003 – as the successor to Wolf von Lojewski. Before that, the doctor of law worked for ARD as a correspondent and studio manager in the USA and later in Great Britain.

Christian Sievers (52) was announced as Kleber’s successor. In the new role, the 52-year-old will make his first appearance on January 10th. Marietta Slomka (52) remains the second main presenter.

This year, each issue of “heute journal” was followed by an average of 4.15 million viewers.
