The Sixth World Congress of Psychiatry and the accompanying exhibition at King Saud University, entitled “Mental Health for Adults,” concluded today. The event, which spanned several days, focused on a wide range of topics related to mental health, including prevention and early diagnosis of mental disorders, psychotherapy, early social interventions, and communicative medicine. Additionally, the conference addressed the first episode of psychosis, women’s mental health, substance abuse, and mental health materials, teaching, and training.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Hadi, the President of the Conference, emphasized the importance of the event in bringing together specialists from the United States, Canada, Britain, South Africa, and various Arab and regional countries to share their expertise in the field of psychiatry. The event was organized by the Department of Psychiatry at the College of Medicine and the University Medical City in cooperation with the SABIC Chair for Health Research and Applications.

In addition to the discussions and scientific sessions, the accompanying exhibition featured the participation of 45 specialized bodies in the field of mental health, including governmental and private organizations, committees, and centers. The exhibition showcased a variety of pavilions, including those dedicated to the Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, colleges and academic departments, student clubs, King Saud University Publishing House, and the volunteer office on campus. There were also pavilions for scientific magazines specialized in psychology and social studies, non-profit associations, centers and clinics specialized in mental health, health platforms, and visual psychological applications.

One of the highlights of the exhibition was the pavilion of the branch of the Saudi Society for Fine Arts in the Riyadh region, which emphasized the importance of art in relation to psychological treatment. The pavilion featured artistic paintings that expressed psychological themes and illustrated the relationship between the symbolism of the image and visual language.

The event served as an important platform for knowledge-sharing and collaboration among experts in the field of psychiatry, creating opportunities for the advancement of mental health research and practice. The success of the Congress and exhibition reflects the growing global recognition of the significance of mental health and the ongoing efforts to address mental health challenges.]
