The reason is the strong gusts expected in the department during the night from Wednesday to Thursday early in the afternoon. The wind will blow up to 110 km/h in the west of the department, up to 100 km/h in the eastern part, and could even go beyond overnight. According to forecasts, the storm could move away towards the north of the country on Thursday morning.

Beauvais parks closed since Tuesday evening

On this Wednesday afternoon, the Mer de sable also reported its closure this Thursday, following the placement of the department on orange alert announced by the prefecture. Parc Saint Paul had already made its decision in the morning. “We are a little in the Norman Oise, closer to the storm zone,” explains Gilles Campion, director of the site. We don’t really know what will happen but we don’t want to take any risks. In any case, the authorities advise everyone to stay at home, it will not be a busy day. »

Weather conditions which also prompted the city of Beauvais to close all municipal parks and gardens, from this Tuesday evening until this Thursday at 2 p.m. Same decision in Saint-Leu d’Esserent where the Garenne park will be closed from this Wednesday at 7 p.m. until further notice.

But it was on the rails that the storm caused the most damage, even before it passed. The SCNF announced this Tuesday that the 1200 TER of Hauts-de-France would remain at the dock this Thursday. Part of the TGV traffic will also be suspended, again, on Thursday because of the risks generated by the storm. Difficulties which could continue into Friday morning.

And communities are getting ready. In Laigneville, the municipality has already announced that it has prepared the cutting and clearing equipment, the reinforcement of the on-call requirements of technical services and the placing on pre-alert of the municipal civil security reserve.

“Between those who announce a catastrophic storm and those who announce a classic storm, the uncertainties are still significant, however, we have chosen to put in place reinforced measures to deal with any situation,” said the mayor, Christophe Dietrich.
