CM fears someone over Mullaperiyar issue: Leader of Opposition – KERALA – GENERAL

by time news

Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition leader VD Achuthanandan has said that the Kerala government and the Chief Minister are inactive on the Mullaperiyar issue. Satheesan told reporters. The oversight committee does not even require a meeting. The CM is not in talks with anyone. The Chief Minister should make it clear who is afraid of giving permission to cut down trees in Mullaperiyar, taking a decision in favor of Tamil Nadu in the oversight committee, taking steps to weaken Kerala’s case in the Supreme Court and not opposing the release of water at night. The Chief Minister who is absconding without answering the questions raised by the Opposition should take decisions at least on the Mullaperiyar issue which directly affects the people.

The statement of the Water Resources Minister that the release of water from Tamil Nadu is painful is ridiculous. The dam monitoring committee comprising representatives from Kerala and Tamil Nadu has agreed that the release of water will be announced in advance and the shutters will not be opened at night. But Tamil Nadu water is constantly being released at night. Satheesan pointed out that Pinarayi Vijayan is not ready to respond to that or talk to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister.
