Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav on Friday took a dig at Rahul Gandhi, saying that the Congress leader has changed the constituency due to fear of defeat. He has decided to contest elections from Rae Bareli Lok Sabha seat of Uttar Pradesh. Rahul Gandhi is currently an MP from Wayanad Lok Sabha seat of Kerala. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Gandhi had contested from Amethi as well as Wayanad seat. Though he managed to win from Wayanad, he lost the Amethi seat to Union Minister Smriti Irani.
In a statement given to the media, Dr. Mohan Yadav said that Rahul Gandhi had fled to Kerala after losing from Amethi last time, now he is running to Rae Bareli fearing defeat in Wayanad. He will also have to face defeat from Rae Bareli. Rahul was thinking of contesting from Amethi due to fear of defeat in Wayanad, but Irani did an excellent job in the last five years and Congress even had to lose the deposit on four out of five assembly seats in Amethi.
Claim to break previous record
Earlier this week, CM Dr Mohan Yadav held a road show in Amethi after the filing of nomination papers of Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Smriti Irani. Yadav said that due to the enthusiastic atmosphere being created for the third term of the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress could not select candidates from Amethi and Rae Bareli seats till the last moment. He claimed that BJP will also break the previous records.

Kishori Lal Sharma in the field from Amethi, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister said that people will give a befitting reply to Congress for hindering development and talking lightly about Modi. Rae Bareli seat was held by Rahul Gandhi’s mother Sonia Gandhi for the last two decades. Congress said in a statement on Friday that Kishori Lal Sharma, close to the Gandhi family, has been fielded from the Amethi Lok Sabha seat.
