Young Tennis Stars Shine at Coach Brolo in Fitp Junior Program Stage 2

A vibrant display of youthful talent unfolded at Coach Brolo as 47 young athletes participated in the second stage of the Fitp Junior Program, an initiative by the Italian Tennis & Padel Federation designed to nurture the next generation of tennis champions. The event, held recently, fostered both competition and collaboration, providing valuable experience and technical insights for players and coaches alike.

Fueling the Dreams of Future Champions

The Fitp Junior Program aims to create a developmental pathway for young players, offering opportunities for competitive play and skill enhancement. According to organizers, the program is designed to “create comparison through play and which provides technical ideas to the teachers to work together on their future, also fueling the dream of emulating our tennis champions, today on the roof of the world.” This latest stage in Messina provided a crucial stepping stone for aspiring athletes.

Women’s Tournament Highlights

The women’s tournament culminated in a victory for Sveva Padua (Gioiosa Marea), who defeated Livia Ioppolo (Tennis & Vela Messina) with a score of 3-6, 6-1, 6-3. Marta Amato (Smash Club) and Cecilia Morabito (Circoletto dei Laghi) also reached the semifinal stage. In the “Consolation” bracket, Giulia Caristi (Circoletto dei Laghi) secured a win over Gabriella Sollima (Tennis & Sailing Messina) with a final score of 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.

Men’s Tournament Qualifiers Emerge

The men’s tournament, featuring a qualifying round comprised of eight groups, saw 16 players advance to the final direct elimination draw. The qualified contenders are:

These athletes will return next weekend to compete in a direct elimination bracket, with a “Consolation” bracket also available for those initially eliminated.

Praise for Players, Parents, and Organizers

“Well done to all the children on the pitch – for having already demonstrated excellent game patterns and a positive attitude despite the initial excitement, and the many eyes on you,” stated a senior official involved with the event. Recognition was also extended to the parents for their supportive conduct and to the technicians for their collaborative efforts. Special thanks were given to the Arasi team – Paolo Perseu, Giuseppe Svelti, CaterinaSofia Blogna, Giovanni Catania, and Giusi Fioravanti – for their organizational expertise.

Rising Stars from Coach Brolo and Castell’Umberto

The Coach Brolo Tennis School, alongside their peers from Castell’Umberto, received particular praise for their dedication and enthusiasm, despite it being their first experience in the program. Samuele Manera, Francesco Spanó Bascio, and Damiano Foti came close to qualifying, finishing third in their respective groups. Additional strong performances were noted from Vinoj Croos, Alessio Agostino, and in the women’s division, Sabrina Ricciardi (third place), Iside Testaverde, Martina Bonasera, and Benedetta Sirna.
