Colombia’s ‌Flor Denis Ruiz Finishes Fifth in Javelin Final at ‍Paris Olympics

Colombia’s ⁢Flor Denis Ruiz, the bearer of the national flag in the Paris Olympics, played the final in the javelin throw and despite a strong start, finished in ⁤fifth place.

The athlete, ‌who was born in Pradera, Valle del Cauca,​ threw 60.49 meters in the first round, placing her seventh in the final and securing her place among the‍ pre-qualification⁢ zone.

In the second throw, Colombia improved her distance to 63.00 meters, which ranked her second best, behind ⁤Haruka Kitaguchi from China, who achieved 65.80 meters.

In the third round, Ruiz remained in contention for a medal, but her distance dropped to 62.41 meters.

Several other competitors performed better in the final, and Colombia ultimately finished in fifth place, behind China’s Kitaguchi, South‍ Africa’s Jo-An van Dyk, the ‌Czech Republic’s‌ Nikola Ogrodniková, and Croatia’s Sara Kolav.

In ‍the fourth throw, Ruiz protected her right elbow and managed to achieve 61.68 meters, but her hopes of a ‌podium finish dwindled.

Her performance continued to decline in the fifth and final rounds, ending with‍ a distance of 60.14 meters.

Despite her fifth-place finish, Ruiz secured an Olympic Diploma, the 13th for ⁣Colombia.

The gold medal went to Kitaguchi with 65.80⁣ meters, ⁣while the silver went to van Dyk ​and the​ bronze​ went to Ogrodníková.

Croatia’s Kolav finished fourth with a record-breaking 63.40 meters, and Colombia ended the competition in fifth place with 63.00 meters.
