Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) President Colonel (retd) Oli Ahmad Bir Bikram stated that, following the fall of the dictatorship, it is crucial for the nation to unite regardless of caste, religion, caste, or political identity. He emphasized the need to cancel and ban the registration of the Awami League, alleging it to be a dictatorial and terrorist organization.
He made these remarks at a press conference held at the central office of LDP in Moghbazar, Dhaka, on Thursday (August 8).
Oli Ahmad expressed his best wishes to the new government, including Mohammad Yunus, and hoped he would fulfill his executive duties successfully.
The LDP president also called for compensation, rehabilitation, and proper treatment for those who were martyred or injured during the student movement. He further demanded the release and rehabilitation of Bangladeshi citizens sentenced or deported in countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore. Additionally, he called for the withdrawal of all politically motivated legal cases initiated since 2009 and the immediate release of those arbitrarily arrested and imprisoned.
Oli Ahmad also stressed the need to cancel the illegal and unwarranted additions made to the list of freedom fighters since 1996 and to revoke the appointments of those individuals.
He also demanded the cancellation of the Awami League registration and its designation as a dictatorial and terrorist organization. Additionally, he called for the arrest of all those associated with the previous dictatorial government based on credible evidence. He further proposed the confiscation of their illicit assets and international collaboration to recover assets illegally transferred abroad.
